New Barn
Project - Spring 2007 (updates scroll to bottom)
This spring we
have been really busy here at the farm. Our biggest project has been building a
barn on the hill up above the garage/cabin. Jane and I began cutting down the
trees that had to go, even before the snow was gone. We had some nice brush
piles which we burned after getting the fire permits from the forest fire
warden. Then about the 1st of may, the equipment arrived and the ground work
began. We found a bit of water under our site, so extra drainage, stone and
piping had to be installed. While we had the equipment here, we had them put in
a base for a greenhouse that we will build attached to the garage.

We hired
Lyndonville contractor Ken Grant, (Ken's Karpentry 802-748-9475) to build our
Gambrel Barn. He started on Monday this past week and even though we had several
very rainy days where they couldn't work, he and his crew had the building
almost entirely framed by Friday.

NEWS BREAK.......Barn goes through major remodel
before it is a year old....
In order to accommodate our Alpaca herd, we have had to enlarge our
original structure this fall, so Ken was back for a couple more weeks and the
results are the last four photos in the series above....also I have included a
couple photos of our 6 foot high fence as viewed from the top Alpaca pasture.
