Log Cabin Farm LLC Vegetable Produce - 2007

Scroll down to see our four main gardens and to find out what is planted in each.
The first photo (below) is the Lower Garden, the one you can see from the road in front of the farm.

This garden, the "Lower Garden" (above), is planted with  15 rows, (over 1,200 seeds) of "Sugar Pearl F1 Hybrid Corn" (Sweet Corn). It also has "Sugar Baby" Watermelons, "Sweet Reba Bush Acorn Squash", "Waltham Butternut Squash" and "Long Pie" Pumpkins. Hopefully the larger leaf plants will discourage the raccoons from camping out in the corn patch. (This is an early native American Indian planting technique.)

The middle garden, or "Barn Garden" (seen above), is packed with goodies. Here is where we planted our yellow onion sets and "Parade" onion seeds (for greens), and a large selection of Cole crops: Brussels Sprouts, green head cabbage, red head cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli. We have three rows of "Early Wonder Tall Top Beets", a row of "Silverado Chard", "Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce", "Winter Density Lettuce", and "Red Salad Bowl Lettuce". Of course we have here two rows of "Bloomsdale Long Standing Spinach" as well. Filling out the patch is two rows of "Laxtons Progress #9 shelling peas", a row of mixed chili peppers, a short row of eggplants and two rows of tomatoes. There is also a few hills of zucchini on the northern border.

Above is the biggest garden bed we have called the "Top Garden". It is on a slight slope, in one of our fields above the barn. It has "Dwarf Grey Sugar Peas", "Napoli F1 Hybrid Carrots" and "Rudolph Radishes", 5 rows of "Provider Bush Beans", another two rows of 24 tomato plants, two rows of potatoes (planted 5 pounds of cut eyes), and then the bulk of all our vine plants. "Dark Green Zucchini", Yellow Crookneck Summer Squash, "Sugar Baby Watermelon", "Waltham Butternut Squash", "Sweet Reba Bush Acorn Squash", more "Marketmore 76 Cucumber" than you can shake a stick at

Here is the House Garden, (above) which is strictly for cut flowers.
